Successful NorTrials Meeting in Paris
On Friday 9 September, Norwegian oncologists and representatives from the global pharmaceutical industry met at the Norwegian ambassador's residence in Paris. NorTrials arranged the meeting in connection with the cancer congress ESMO, with the purpose to promote Norway as a preferred country for clinical trials.
Ambassador Niels Engelschiøn opened the meeting. We also received presentations from State Secretary Karl Kristian Bekeng and head of NorTrials' coordinating unit Signe Fretland. Focus was on the government's action plan for clinical studies, of which NorTrials is one of the initiatives, and on drawing attention to the advantages of conducting clinical oncology studies in Norway. Finally, Åslaug Helland, head of the NorTrials center for cancer, presented her thoughts on NorTrials and the opportunities the partnership entails.
After the presentations, plenty of time was set aside for mingling and networking. The atmosphere was good and many new relations were established, which hopefully will result in an increase in industry-sponsored clinical trials in Norway in the near future.
The meeting received good feedback from the participants. We look forward to more such opportunities to present Norway as a favourable country for clinical trials!
